David Goode

Computer Officer, President of the Cambridge University and College Union

David Goode is a Computer Officer assigned to the Faculty of Divinity. He has previously worked for employers such as Cambridge Publishers Ltd, the Cambridge Evening News, two popular science magazines (see below), and British Railways, among others.

He was for several years a major contributor to the short-lived Practical Astronomy magazine and editor of its slightly-longer-lived successor, Amateur Astronomy & Earth Sciences.

Trade union work

David Goode is President of the Cambridge University and College Union, the union for academic, academic-related, and research staff in further and higher education, and a lead representative of the union in meetings and negotiations with the University's senior administrators. He is an ex officio member of the local Executive Committee, Chair of the Eastern and Home Counties Regional Committee of the national University and College Union, and a member of the Southern and Eastern Regional Council of the Trades Union Congress (SERTUC).
